FAQ:-

Question - How often do I need to oil my shredder if at all?

Answer - All crosscut shredders need oiling either weekly or each time the bag is emptied whichever is more frequent, use a good quality clear oil not all oils are alike and this is a product that you certainly get what you pay for, feel free to call for totally free unbiased advice 01543 370818

Question - Should I have a stripcut or crosscut shredder?

Answer - Without a doubt ALL organisations dealing with confidential information NEED a crosscut shredder. Stripcut machines are not compliant with Data Protection legislation and should only now be used for activities like making packaging and animal bedding from newspaper, cardboard etc

Question - Do I really need to have my shredder serviced it works fine seems like a waste of money?

Answer - Whilst servicing is completely discretionary it is strongly advisable on at least an annual basis and more frequently for some heavily used machines. It doesn't matter how well you look after you machine, see guide above on general maintenance, there will always be a build up of combustible material inside the cutting unit which cannot AND SHOULD NOT be accessed by untrained users. additionally small electrical defects that have the potential to cause fires can be picked up at the service before causing any damage call 01543 370818 to discuss any concerns completely without obligation.

Question - My shredder doesn't turn off automatically anymore when the paper has passed through is it worth repairing?

Answer - This depends very greatly on the original cost of the machine. If the unit is a small one for personal use and cost less than £50 there is no financial sense in getting it repaired, larger office shredders are financially viable for repair and if regularly serviced this 'running on' problem should not occur.
